ZANDAIR PCOC3 In-Duct Air Purification

The need for filtered air has never been more important. No matter how well you maintain your laboratory, your work area can be filled with air pollutants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chemically active compounds (CACs), aldehydes, carcinogenic materials, carbon monoxide, viruses and bacteria, dust particles, mold spores, cleaning chemicals, and more.

All these airborne pathogens can affect your IVF outcomes and the health of workers in the laboratory. Protect your lab with effective air filtration from ZANDAIR!

  • In-duct air purification cleans air down to the last molecule
  • Destroys toxic chemicals and eliminates odor with 3 Photocatalytic Oxidation Chambers
  • Ultraviolet light attacks molecular structures of viruses and bacteria

  • IVF laboratories
  • Culture environments
  • Embryo development

Features & Benefits

The ZANDAIR PCOC3 (Photocatalytic Oxidation Chamber) model is a powder-coated metal encased unit to be fitted into the HVAC/AHU unit or the air ducting to provide an airtight flow of the airstream through the unit. The PCOC3 may be installed into newly constructed HVAC/AHU systems or can be retrofitted into existing air filtration systems with HEPA filters in place. Available for in-duct installation or external rooftop installation.

This model consists of three chambers, each with photocatalytic grids for maximum breakup of the volatile organic compounds passing in the airstream.

A single ZANDAIR PCOC3 handles 2000 CFM airflow. Area to be covered is a function of that volume of air for the intended ACH (Air Changes Per Hour), 6 to 15 ACH recommended.

Available spaces for an optional/removable MERV-13 (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) filter and a Potassium Permanganate Filter (PPF) specially formulated to adsorb any ambient formaldehyde/aldehydes.

The key to effective air filtration is Photocatalytic Oxidation

The chemical compounds of damaging VOCs become highly reactive when exposed to a specific wavelength of ultraviolet light. The photocatalyst attracts pollutants and converts them into benign compounds such as water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The catalyst will not wear out and maintains its effectiveness after the process.

STEP ONE: Adsorbs Toxic Chemicals and Gases

The contaminated air flow enters the ZANDAIR PCOC3 through the MERV particle filter (optional) or directly through the 3 Photocatalytic Oxidation Chambers.

STEP TWO: Photocatalytic Oxidation Destroys Toxic Chemicals and Eliminates Odors

For facilities that received a retrofitted installation, the PCOC3 operates in sync with the existing HEPA filter(s) to perform fine particle removal.

Photocatalytic Oxidation combines UVC irradiation with the catalyst titanium dioxide (TiO2) and converts volatile organic compounds (VOC) and chemically active compounds (CACs) into benign compounds.

As the contaminated air circulates through these chambers, the microbes are “attacked” by free hydroxy radicals and super-oxide ions (created by UV light and titanium dioxide). The catalyst does not wear out or lose its effectiveness from this process.

STEP THREE: Ultraviolet Light

Ultraviolet light attacks the molecular structure of viruses and bacteria, which are too small to be filtered out by the High Efficiency filter. The UV light converts VOCs and CACs into H2O and CO2

The ultraviolet lamps are wired to operate continuously and allows the catalyst to burn off surface impurities, cleaning and reactivating itself.

Ultraviolet light technology combined with Photocatalytic-Oxidation is an important and unique feature of this air purification / filtration system.
